Looking for ways to encourage reading at home? Try designating a “family reading night” where everyone in the family reads together for 20 minutes. It’s a great way to model good reading habits and enjoy quality time as a family.
The fun isn’t over when a story ends— it’s just beginning! Build a story pyramid. A story pyramid is a great way to help children summarize and retain key story details. This helps children focus on the core aspects of the story while encouraging them to identify important details and think critically about what they read.
Line 1: The main character’s name
Line 2: Two words describing that character
Line 3: Three words describing the setting
Line 4: Four words explaining the problem
Line 5: Five words telling the conclusion
