One of the best parts about being a kid is the fact that it is easy to find ways to exercise every day! Each time you go out to the playground, run around in your back yard, or play with your dog at home, you are helping your body stay healthy. It is so important to find ways to be active in order to build a strong body that can do all the things you want it to do! If you get in the habit of being active every day now, your body will thank you later! There are three basic kinds of exercise that all help build a strong, healthy body. These include endurance, strength, and flexibility. It is important to remember to work on all three in order to promote good overall health.
Endurance comes from things like running, jump roping, dancing, and anything else that makes your breath a little harder and gets your blood pumping. This type of exercise is also known as aerobics. The more endurance exercise that you do, the better you will be at it, and it’s good for your heart, too!
Strength training exercises don’t just refer to lifting weights. While weight lifting is good exercise with the right training and supervision, there are many other daily activities and fun games you can play with your friends to help build stronger muscles. Some examples of fun ways to build your strength are tug-of-war, bike riding, push-ups, and crunches. Want a way to make it even more fun? Challenge your friends to see who can do the most push-ups!
Flexibility is another type of exercise that will benefit you know and help you feel great as you get older. When you are a kid, your body is naturally more flexible, so it is important to keep this up. If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it! Simple stretches, such as touching your toes, are a good way to work on flexibility at home. Want to work on this even more? Sign up for yoga or a gymnastics class!
The more active you are, the better you will feel. Just remember to listen to your body and work hard to help yourself reach your full potential! It feels good to have a strong, flexible body that can do everything you want it to. If you aren’t convinced yet, think about this: exercise is scientifically proven to make you happier! Every time you exercise, your brain releases a chemical called endorphins, which make you happy. There are so many benefits to daily activity – so make sure you get some exercise every day!
