PTA News March 2016

The PTA had a lot of fun teaming up with the Library’s book fair at Barnes and Noble in February.  The art from all of the kids really added a lot of color to “our” corner of Barnes and Noble and Mrs. Olstad’s cookie decorating station was a giant hit. Plus it was so much fun to purchase books for the library.

We are so thankful that the Magic City Flyfishers came to help kids learn about bugs fish eat and how to tie flies for fly-fishing.  The kids had a great time.  One lucky kid will earn a scholarship for the Fly Fishing Camp at Rocky College in June.

The PTA is excited to help support the Science Fair.  There will be prizes for first, second, third for both the younger and older scientists and an overall grand prize winner.  Plus there will be dessert available for everyone. We hope to see many entries and families come support our future inventors and scientist.

The PTA is proud to announce that they have worked with the teachers and together have decided to purchase a Lego Robotics set.  This will be an awesome benefit for the students at Pioneer.  The STEM set includes 16 kits that can be used in all of the classrooms. STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. It focuses on these areas together not only because the skills and knowledge in each discipline are essential for student success, but also because these fields are deeply intertwined in the real world and in how students learn most effectively.

Don’t forget to invite all of your friends and family (even from other schools) to the REEF FUNraiser on March 4th from 4 to 9. PLEASE let them know you are with Pioneer Schools and 40% of the proceeds benefit our PTA.

March’s PTA meeting will be held after the Science Fair on March 10th instead of the 3rd.
