School Secretary Mrs. Marilyn Michael

teacher-Pioneer-Elementary-School-Billings-Marilyn-Michael-School-Secretary

Hi, my name is Mrs. Michael.  I am the secretary at Pioneer School.

I have been the secretary at Pioneer School for 18 years.  My family lives and farms in the area.  My own two children attended Pioneer School as did my husband and his father.

The school secretary is an important person to know at your child’s school.  I take care of many things throughout the day, week, month and year.

I handle much of the school communication including the monthly newsletter.

I also keep track of student attendance, the bus routes, milk tickets, and many other things.  I am also on the playground with your children for every recess.

As the school secretary, I am aware of what is going on at the school on a day-to-day basis.  This means I can be an excellent resource of information for parents.

I am the person you need to call if your child is going to be absent.  If I have not heard from a parent, I will attempt to call you.  It is very important for you to let us know if your child is going to be absent.  An answering machine is available if you need to call before or after school hours.  You can also email me anytime throughout the day.  It is also very important to have your children here on time.  They miss a lot of instruction time when they are tardy.

As the person that is on the playground I want to remind you that we do go outside every day, three times per day unless it is below zero.  Please remember that the morning recess can be quite chilly even if the forecast for the day is for warm temperatures.  Children need to come to school dressed appropriately for the weather.  This includes snow boots, snow pants, hats and gloves when it is cold and snowy.  Children without the proper clothing will only be allowed in the shoveled black top areas.

You may also contact me if you have any changes for the bus routes.  Major bus route changes must be approved by the school board.  Please remember if your child is to get off at another child’s bus stop, we must have notes or phone calls from both sets of parents.  (The parent of the child going to another’s house and the parent of the child whose house they are going to.)

Pioneer School is a special place, so please remember we are here to help.  Don’t be afraid to come to us to help if you have any concerns.  We can only help solve a problem if we know about it.

—Mrs. Michael
